I noticed something wierd in greys anatomy/private practice. Have you noticed it?

So in private practive pete is dating Meg. but in season 2 episode 23 of greys anatomy she guest starred as gwen a divorce lawyer with seizure problems. are they supposed to let that double character thing slide? cause she cant be to different people in the same life? and would that be wierd if she was apart of the transition in february?
